Cookie policy

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on leeds-it.co.uk, and what you can do about them.

Nothing non-essential loads until you say so

When you first arrive, you are asked whether we may use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Neither analytics service loads unless you press Accept. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and the website continues to work normally. Until you press Accept, no analytics script is requested, no request is made to Google, and no analytics cookie is set. Declining costs you nothing and the site behaves identically. You can change your answer at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

What this site uses

Essential

Our host, Cloudflare, may set a cookie to keep the site secure and available. This is required for the site to work and cannot be switched off.

Your cookie choice

Your Accept or Decline choice is stored in your browser for up to six months. After that period, or if our analytics use changes, we will ask you again. You can change your choice sooner through the Cookie settings link in the footer. This is what makes your choice work, so it is treated as essential.

Analytics, only with consent

If you accept, Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-62GB348YP9) sets cookies beginning _ga, typically lasting up to two years. They tell us which pages are visited and roughly where visitors came from. We have IP anonymisation switched on, and advertising, ad personalisation and ad user data are all set to denied, so this data is not used to build an advertising profile of you. If you decline, we clear any of these cookies we find.

Session replay and heatmaps, only with consent

If you accept, Microsoft Clarity (project xt6v1qr23d) records anonymised interaction data such as mouse movement, clicks and scrolling, so we can see which parts of a page people struggle with. It sets cookies beginning _clck and _clsk, typically lasting up to one year. Anything you type into the contact form is masked and never recorded. Decline and it never loads.

Fonts

Typefaces load from Google Fonts. Google may log the request, including your IP address, in order to serve the font. No cookie is set by us for this.

Map

The location section shows a placeholder, not a map. Nothing is requested from Google when the page loads. If you press “Show the map”, a Google Maps frame is created at that point and Google may then set its own cookies under its own privacy and cookie policies. There is also a plain link to Google Maps, which behaves the same way: nothing is sent until you use it.

WhatsApp and telephone links

Ordinary links. Following one takes you to WhatsApp or your phone app, where their terms apply.

Managing cookies

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer to change your analytics choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.

Contact form

The contact form does not use cookies. What happens to the information you send is covered in our privacy policy.
